Weather Site Update

I moved from my previous home in October 2022, to a rural location about 40 miles from the old one. I eventually got the weather station set up in January 2025 and put it on line in August 2026.

Sadly, the Weather pages here had been neglected for quite a while, mainly due to two separate issues :

• The weather station software than I was using to upload pages to the website (Virtual Weather Station) is no longer maintained and can not use secure FTP which is required by my website host so, whilst my local website is mostly OK, the pages here have been frozen since October 2017 when my ISP stopped supporting basic (non-secure) FTP.

• Equipment failures and my inability to access the external weather sensors for maintenance.

Due to equipment failures, the long serving Oregon Scientific weather station is now permanently shutdown, but the Davis Vantage Pro station is now established in its new home and the live weather data is back on line.

Going forward, the site will concentrate on Davis Vantage Pro hardware and the Oregon Weather pages will disappear. I have also taken the opportunity to change the weather software that I am using and the data uploads will be through CumulusMX.

Weather data is currently displayed on the "out of the box" webpages distributed with CumulusMX

Weather data on this site is derived from :-

			(Oregon Web Site)

 The Oregon Scientific station was the first station installed and still provides a backup to the Davis station.

The Davis station is much higher quality (meaning much more expensive !) than the Oregon Scientific station and provides additional readings such as Solar Radiation and UV Index.
